Bayern Munich Target Atalanta Star Ademola Lookman in Loan-to-Buy Transfer Move

Lookman has attracted strong interest this summer, with Inter Milan also tracking his situation. Atalanta, however, are unwilling to allow him to move to a domestic rival, keeping the door open for a switch abroad.
Bayern’s move for Lookman comes shortly after Chelsea decided against loaning Nicolas Jackson to the Bundesliga side, ending discussions that had previously progressed between the two clubs.
The former Charlton Athletic youth product began his career in England before spells with Everton, RB Leipzig, Fulham, and Leicester City. His breakthrough came at Atalanta following a €10 million transfer in 2022, where he established himself among Europe’s most consistent forwards.
Lookman delivered an exceptional 2023-24 campaign, scoring 17 goals and providing 10 assists in 45 appearances. His standout moment arrived in the Europa League final, where he netted a historic hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen. The 3-0 victory not only ended Leverkusen’s 51-match unbeaten streak but also secured Atalanta’s first European trophy and first piece of silverware in 61 years.
The forward’s form earned him 14th place in the 2023 Ballon d’Or rankings, underlining his rise on the European stage. He endured a difficult moment earlier this year when then-head coach Gian Piero Gasperini singled him out after a missed penalty in the Champions League. Gasperini has since departed to become Roma manager.
Lookman built further momentum last season, scoring 20 goals and assisting seven times across 40 matches as Atalanta finished third in Serie A and booked their return to the Champions League for the 2025-26 campaign.
Bayern Munich’s proposal reflects the growing market value of the Nigerian attacker, whose performances continue to attract top European clubs.
