Bundesliga high-flyers make Fabregas their number one target

Cesc Fabregas, the manager of Como, is apparently a target for Bundesliga leaders Stuttgart, while coach Sebastian Hoeness is connected with a transfer elsewhere.

Stuttgart are preparing for Hoeness' likely exit in the summer, as the 42-year-old coach continues to impress with Die Schwaben. They are now fifth in the Bundesliga standings, one point behind the Champions League qualifying places. Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig are all reportedly interested in signing Hoeness.

According to the German daily BILD, Stuggart is already putting together a shortlist of coaches to replace Hoeness if the 42-year-old quits in the summer. The report suggests that Fabregas is top of Die Schwaben's list because the Como manager, who acquired Dele Alli this winter, has impressed with the Serie A newcomers, who are now 15th in the league standings in their maiden season in the top level.

Fabregas' contract with Como runs until the summer of 2028, and if Stuttgart wants to recruit the former Barcelona midfielder, they will have to pay a contract termination fee. However, this will not be a problem because they will collect around €6 million (£5 million/6.2 million) if a team breaches Hoeness' contract with Stuttgart.

Como are trying to stay in Serie A for at least another season, and Fabregas will lead his team when they face Juventus at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on Friday, February 7.
