Emiliano Martinez and Senne Lammens Considered by Man Utd as Transfer Deadline Nears
Manchester United are holding internal discussions over their next move in the transfer market as the club considers strengthening its goalkeeping options. Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez and Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens are both on the shortlist, with talks continuing as the deadline approaches.

Martinez, a 32-year-old Argentina international, is said to be open to a switch to Old Trafford and has not closed the door on potential negotiations. Sources indicate that United have already assessed the financial and contractual conditions of a possible deal. The World Cup winner signed a five-year contract extension with Aston Villa last summer, keeping him under contract until 2029. He made his first appearance of the season last weekend during Villa’s 1-0 defeat at Brentford.
Lammens, meanwhile, is also being monitored closely as Manchester United explore their options with Royal Antwerp. The 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper is attracting strong interest from Galatasaray as well, but United are reluctant to enter a bidding battle for the player. With limited time left in the window, securing either Martinez or Lammens could prove complicated, and there remains a chance that no new goalkeeper will arrive before the deadline.
Transfer activity at Old Trafford is not limited to arrivals, as the club continues to work on player exits. Real Betis remain in dialogue with Manchester United regarding Antony. A deal had initially been agreed before Betis withdrew, citing financial difficulties under the proposed terms. Negotiations have since resumed, with optimism that an agreement can still be reached. The main point of contention revolves around compensation for Antony’s remaining two years on his contract, and adjustments to the winger’s personal terms may be required to finalize the transfer.
Rasmus Hojlund is also set to depart Manchester United, having completed his medical ahead of a move to Napoli. The striker is expected to join on an initial loan that includes a conditional obligation to buy, triggered if Napoli qualify for the Champions League. The total deal is valued at £43 million, comprising a loan fee exceeding £5 million (€6m) and an obligation price of £38 million (€44m).
As the deadline draws near, Manchester United remain active on both incoming and outgoing transfers, with decisions on Martinez, Lammens, Antony, and Hojlund shaping the final days of their window strategy.
