Crystal Palace Agree £35m Brennan Johnson Deal With Tottenham Ahead of January Window
Crystal Palace have reached a formal agreement with Tottenham Hotspur over the transfer of Brennan Johnson, but the move will only be completed once the player makes a final decision on his future.
Crystal Palace have struck a £35m agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for winger Brennan Johnson, though the Wales international is yet to decide on the proposed January move.
The two Premier League clubs have settled on a fee close to £35 million (€40m, $47m) for the winger. Johnson is also attracting interest from other clubs as the January transfer window approaches, giving him several options to consider.

Should the 24-year-old Wales international give the green light to the switch, it would significantly bolster Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner’s attacking resources as the club balances both domestic and European competitions.
For Tottenham, the deal would rank as the fourth-largest sale in the club’s history, trailing only the departures of Gareth Bale, Harry Kane and Kyle Walker. This is despite Johnson not featuring prominently in the long-term vision of head coach Thomas Frank.
According to The Athletic’s Transfer DealSheet published on December 26, Johnson has been identified as Crystal Palace’s top priority for the January market.
Johnson ended last season as Tottenham’s leading scorer, registering 18 goals across all competitions. However, his involvement has been more limited under Frank this campaign, with just six Premier League starts.
Spurs have depth in attacking areas, particularly following the arrival of Mohamed Kudus last summer, who has largely assumed Johnson’s role on the right wing. Dejan Kulusevski has also been used mainly on that side, although he can operate centrally. The Sweden international has been sidelined since May after undergoing knee surgery.
A product of Nottingham Forest’s academy, Johnson played a key role in the club’s promotion to the Premier League during the 2021–22 season. He joined Tottenham in September 2023 in a deal worth £47.5 million.
In his debut season in north London under Ange Postecoglou, Johnson contributed five goals and 11 assists as Spurs secured qualification for the Europa League. He followed that up with a standout 2024–25 campaign, scoring five times in European competition, including the decisive goal in the Europa League final that ended Tottenham’s 17-year trophy drought.
So far in the 2025–26 season, Johnson has featured 20 times across all competitions, operating on both flanks and scoring four goals.
