Barcelona Plan Permanent Marcus Rashford Deal After Standout Start in Spain
Marcus Rashford’s loan spell at Barcelona is set to become a long-term arrangement, with the club intending to secure his services on a permanent basis at the end of the campaign. The recent departure of Amorim had briefly reopened debate about Rashford’s prospects at Old Trafford. Several United players are expected to benefit from the managerial change, including Kobbie Mainoo, and Rashford was believed to be another who could have revived his United career under new leadership.
However, Barcelona have shown no hesitation in their plans. Rashford’s performances have strengthened their resolve, with the forward contributing two goals and six assists during a promising start in La Liga.
The Blaugrana currently occupy top spot in the league standings, four points ahead of Real Madrid. The two sides will clash once again in the Supercopa de Espana final on Sunday after progressing through their respective semi-finals earlier in the week.
Barcelona secured the option to buy Rashford for €30 million, paying €5 million to include the clause in the loan agreement. That investment now appears justified, with club members also supporting the move. A recent poll revealed that 54.6 percent of voters favoured signing the forward permanently.
Rashford has previously made his intentions clear, admitting that remaining at Barcelona is his ultimate goal. While he emphasised that winning remains his primary motivation, he described the club as one built for titles and elite competition.
The forward has settled quickly into both the squad and city, stating that he felt embraced from day one. His sole focus, he explained, is helping Barcelona continue their winning trajectory and repeat the successes of last season.
Playing under intense scrutiny has not deterred Rashford. Instead, he has welcomed the pressure, describing it as the type that drives elite players to perform at their best. He admitted that environments lacking high expectations make it harder for him to stay motivated.
Hansi Flick has publicly commended Rashford’s attitude, recalling an instance where the player accepted a reduced role without needing explanation, placing team results above personal ambitions.
Barcelona will not compete in La Liga fixtures this weekend as they prepare for the Supercopa final against Real Madrid. The competition holds positive memories for Flick’s side, who triumphed 5–2 last year in Saudi Arabia to lift their 15th Spanish Super Cup, with goals from Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Alejandro Balde.
