Kylian Mbappe to Arsenal? Former France International Says Premier League Move Cannot Be Ruled Out
A future Premier League transfer for Kylian Mbappe cannot be completely ruled out, according to former France international Mikael Silvestre, who believes the Real Madrid forward should ultimately choose the club that gives him the strongest opportunity to win the major trophy missing from his career.

Mbappe appeared to have found the ideal destination when he joined Real Madrid as a ‘Galactico’. However, despite his outstanding individual performances, the France international is still waiting to secure the Champions League and strengthen his case for the Ballon d’Or.
Kylian Mbappe Still Waiting for Champions League Success
Real Madrid have gone two seasons without winning the most prestigious trophy in European football, a situation that has reportedly added to the frustration surrounding Mbappe's pursuit of collective success.
The French forward has continued to deliver individually, scoring 86 goals in 103 appearances across all competitions for the Spanish giants.
Mbappe's achievements have also extended beyond club football. He has become France's all-time leading scorer and the most prolific goalscorer in World Cup finals history, continuing a career filled with record-breaking accomplishments.
Yet individual brilliance alone does not tell the entire story.
While Mbappe continues to excel personally, the biggest collective honours remain crucial to his legacy. Having been viewed as a future Ballon d'Or contender since emerging as a highly gifted teenager, the forward will need to win major trophies such as La Liga and the Champions League.
The situation is particularly notable given that his former club, Paris Saint-Germain, have gone on to conquer Europe in back-to-back campaigns. For Mbappe, winning the Champions League remains a major priority at the age of 27.
Could Arsenal Be a Future Destination for Mbappe?
Arsenal are also still searching for their first Champions League triumph after suffering final heartache in 2025-26.
That raises the possibility of whether the Gunners could eventually join forces with Mbappe in pursuit of the European success both player and club are seeking.
However, Silvestre does not expect such a move to happen soon.
Asked by GOAL about the possibility of Mbappe joining Arsenal, the former Gunners and France defender, speaking courtesy of BetVictor Online Casino, said: “I think it's unlikely any time soon. Who knows in football, everything is unpredictable. Never say never, but I find it hard to see at the moment.”
The discussion then turned to whether Arsenal would be a better Premier League fit for Mbappe than Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea or Manchester United.
Silvestre believes the French forward could adapt to any team, making playing style less important than the opportunity to win the trophy that remains absent from his collection.
“I don't think the style really matters when you have a top player like this. He would fit in any team.
“So I think for him it's all about who's going to be able to win the trophy that I'm missing. If I was looking at my career, I'm 27 years old, I've won everything but the Champions League. I would pick the club who is bringing me the best platform and possibilities to do that.”
Could Mbappe Follow Thierry Henry's Arsenal Legacy?
Another former France international with strong connections to Arsenal, Bacary Sagna, has previously discussed the possibility of Mbappe moving to the Emirates Stadium.
Sagna believes the forward's qualities could make him an excellent fit for Arsenal, particularly because of the team's youthful and dynamic profile.
“If he joined the Premier League, I think Arsenal would suit him.
“All of the players are kind of the same age, dynamic, young. Arsenal players are fast. If you look at the front line you have [Bukayo] Saka, who is very fast, you have [Eberechi] Eze, who is powerful and fast. You have speed and enjoyment. Arsenal suits him the most in England.
“I'm not sure it's going to happen. I don't think it is ever going to happen because he might retire in Europe with Real Madrid. He has the same kind of speed as Thierry Henry and we know how impactful Thierry was in the Premier League with his speed and ability. I think he would do well in England.”
The comparison with Thierry Henry adds another layer to the potential Arsenal connection. Mbappe's pace has long been one of his defining qualities, and Sagna believes those characteristics could translate effectively to the Premier League.
When Does Mbappe's Real Madrid Contract Expire?
Any potential move away from Real Madrid would first require Mbappe to express a desire to leave the Spanish club.
The forward is currently under contract with Madrid until 2029, meaning a Premier League transfer is not an immediate possibility unless circumstances change.
Should Mbappe ever become available, Arsenal would likely be among the clubs considered for his signature given the club's history with French superstars.
Ultimately, Mbappe's future could depend on what happens on the pitch. The forward has already established himself as one of the world's most prolific individual players, but the Champions League and other major honours remain important missing pieces from his sporting résumé.
For now, his future remains tied to Real Madrid, but as Silvestre noted, football is unpredictable and “Never say never” may ultimately apply to the possibility of Kylian Mbappe playing in the Premier League.
