‎FC Cincinnati Close In on Loan Deal for Liverpool Goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek

‎FC Cincinnati are nearing completion of a loan agreement to bring Liverpool goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek to Major League Soccer, according to a report from The Athletic. The proposed deal contains an option to buy, allowing the MLS club to assess the Polish youth international’s progress before making a long-term commitment.

‎Mrozek spent the latter half of the previous campaign away from Anfield on loan with National League outfit Forest Green Rovers, gaining valuable senior experience in English football.
‎
‎The goalkeeper arrived at Liverpool in the summer of 2020 after transferring from Polish side FC Wroclaw in a deal valued at £250,000. Since then, he has been a regular presence within the club’s youth setup, recording 17 appearances in Premier League 2 as he moved through the academy ranks.

‎At FC Cincinnati, Mrozek is expected to slot in as the club’s third-choice goalkeeper. The Athletic reports that Roman Celentano remains the undisputed first choice, with experienced 30-year-old Evan Louro providing cover. The departure of academy keeper Paul Walters, who recently joined Irish club Bohemians on a season-long loan, has created room within the squad.

‎Cincinnati head into the new season with a solid defensive foundation, anchored by United States international Miles Robinson and former Chelsea defender Matt Miazga. The team enjoyed a strong campaign last year, finishing second in the Eastern Conference before exiting the MLS Cup playoffs at the hands of Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi.

‎Attention now turns to continental competition, with FC Cincinnati set to begin their Concacaf Champions Cup campaign on February 18. They will face Universidad O&M away in the first leg, before returning to TQL Stadium for the second leg on February 25.
