What went wrong with Manchester United's Mathys Tel transfer as Arsenal close in on Bayern Munich wonderkid

Mathys Tel will not join Manchester United from Bayern Munich, despite agreeing to the move before Monday's deadline.

The 19-year-old reportedly agreed to join the Red Devils in the last days of the transfer window, allowing United to negotiate with the Bundesliga's giants.

However, talks between United and Bayern have fallen down, with RMC Sport reporting that the Premier League club has walked away from the deal due to the German giants' high demands.

While Tel's path to Old Trafford has been barred, he may still leave the Bavarian club before the deadline, with Arsenal undoubtedly interested in him.

After losing 2-0 at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday and apparently allowing Marcus Rashford to join Aston Villa on loan, coach Ruben Amorim will be hoping the Red Devils can still bring in some more firepower on deadline day after walking away from Tel.
