Harry Maguire Set for Manchester United Contract Renewal After Resurgent Form

‎Harry Maguire is reportedly on the verge of signing a new contract with Manchester United after revitalizing his career under interim manager Michael Carrick. The England centre-back, whose current deal expires this summer, has caught the eye with his consistent performances and strong defensive displays alongside Lisandro Martinez.

‎The 32-year-old defender has returned to regular first-team action following Matthijs de Ligt’s injury, giving Maguire a chance to showcase his leadership and experience once again. Under former manager Ruben Amorim, he was valued but not guaranteed a starting spot, despite making 40 appearances and scoring four goals last season.

‎According to the Daily Mail, it is becoming "increasingly likely" that Maguire will be rewarded with a contract extension. The defender currently earns £180,000 per week and is keen to remain at Old Trafford, where he has played since his £80 million transfer from Leicester City in 2019. Over his United career, Maguire has made 260 appearances and collected the 2022-23 Carabao Cup and the 2023-24 FA Cup.

‎While United are negotiating, Maguire is free to speak with clubs across Europe. AC Milan reportedly approached the club in January, and Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah, managed by Brendan Rodgers, have also expressed interest.

‎De Ligt has become a key figure in United’s backline, but Maguire’s recent performances alongside Martinez may complicate the Dutchman’s return. Former United defender Wes Brown believes Carrick would be keen to retain Maguire, highlighting his current form and the competition among young defenders.

‎United’s resurgence under Carrick has been impressive, with victories over Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, and Tottenham boosting the Red Devils into fourth place in the Premier League. A win against West Ham United could move them above Aston Villa on goal difference, strengthening their Champions League hopes.

‎Looking ahead, United will face Everton on February 23, followed by matches against Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa. On the contract front, the club has confirmed that Casemiro will depart at season’s end, and Tyrell Malacia is also expected to leave, leaving Maguire as a central figure in the team’s plans.
